I was tempted to call this post ‘Getting Up Washington’s Nose’ but I thought it might be misconstrued as a political jibe. Far be it from me to make comments of that nature on here!
These pictures were taken back in 2011. We’d visited Mount Rushmore several years earlier and had almost decided not to return for a second look during our latest trip to South Dakota.
I’m glad, now, that we changed our minds as we got a much closer view of this awesome monument; a whole new angle, in fact, compared to my original shots.
I have never seen these up close. Thank you
I was glad to have the opportunity to share them. Thanks for stopping by.
These look really different up close-great shots
Thank you, Nora!
These are great. I’ve never been there. The close up shots really give you an idea of what it must have been like to have been carving it.
Thank you! I know there are so many shots of the whole thing that it tends to be rather an overdone topic but I do think the close-ups give you a better sense of all the work that must have gone into creating this masterpiece.
Excellent photos! I would love to get to see mount Rushmore this up close someday.
Thank you, Janaline! I really enjoy reading your blog. You have some wonderful pictures!
I love the subject and your phography the wheel with its eight spokes reminded me of the Buddha’s Eight Fold Path, Thank you Sue.
These pictures are great! We were there at sunset and didn’t get this close. Thanks!
Thanks, Anne! The trail at the base of the monument gave us a really good view and excellent picture-taking opportunities.
