Here are just some of the many individual gardens that make up the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Colors, perfumes and textures abound in the raised beds of the Sensory Garden. This area also includes a woodland walk.

There are six separate ‘rooms’ within The English Walled Garden which was designed by John Brookes.

The Bernice E Lavin Plant Evaluation Garden and the William Pullman Plant Evaluation Garden where plants are tested to determine which are best suited for growing in our area with its hot summers and harsh winters.

The Heritage Garden, dedicated to Carolus Linnaeus, is modeled after Europe’s first botanical garden in Padua, Italy.

The Elizabeth Hubert Malott Japanese Garden, also known as Sansho-En or The Garden of Three Islands, includes an arched bridge, a zigzag bridge (for the purpose of confusing demons,) a dry, gravel garden and a Shoin House.

The Circle Garden displays mostly colorful annual plants along with a few perennials, shrubs and trees. The central feature of this garden is a dancing fountain.

The Farwell Landscape Garden includes a rock garden, perennial border, herb garden and streamside garden.

The Buehler Enabling Garden is a hands-on teaching garden for people of all ages and abilities. It features raised and vertical flowerbeds and cascading fountains.

The Regenstein Fruit and Vegetable Garden offers year-round demonstrations, programs, exhibits and tastings. It includes a kitchen amphitheater, The Wheelbarrow Shop, a beehive and espalier fruit trees.

The Krasberg Rose Garden features more than 5,000 rosebushes including shrub roses, floribundas and hybrid teas.

The Lakeside Gardens feature aquatic plants, a lakeside terrace and shaded pathway.

The Waterfall Garden features more than 15,000 plants and trees and a 45ft waterfall which cascades down into several small pools.
