These strange-looking plants not only contain insects but devour them too!
I came across these carnivorous plants during a visit to the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I thought they might work for The Weekly Photo Challenge on The Daily Post at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/containers/
Interesting plants. They’ve always reminded me of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers for some reason!
They are rather other-worldly aren’t they, Emilio.
They are the coolest plants 🙂
I’ve always been fascinated by these kinds of plants but have never actually seen an insect get trapped by one.
When I was a kid I was afraid every time I saw a picture of one of these. I guess I thought it could bite off my finger. Your photos are beautiful though.
Thank you! They do look rather creepy, don’t they. As Emilio said, they look like something out of a horror movie.
Those scary devils. I’m just happy none of them are human-sized 🙂
Yes, human-sized Venus fly-traps would be really scary! Thanks for stopping by, Viki.
My pleasure and they sure would be very scary!
