Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge this week calls for Large Subjects, whether it be literally or as perceived by the camera.
This small-scale replica of the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota looks huge compared to the original carving shown in the background.
It would be difficult to tell just how large The Leonardo Horse, sculpted by artist Nina Akamu, really is when it appears on its own in a picture so I asked my husband, who is well over 6ft tall, to stand next to it. This sculpture can be found at the Frederik Meijer Sculpture Garden in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Regular-sized people looking at some large faces, sculpted by artist Jaume Plensa, in Millennium Park, Chicago.
This man appears to have made a large catch. A statue outside the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

You have some great large objects for this week’s challenge. Thanks for playing.
Thanks, Cee! I really enjoy participating in these challenges.
Looks like some great outdoor artwork in your area.
Yes, Emilio, we are very lucky to have these interesting pieces so close at hand. And I love the way they just seem to pop up randomly in the City. Always something new to see.
Great shots, Sue. Since I live in Grand Rapids and travel a lot to Chicago, I recognized a few of them right away!
Thanks, Patti! I hope we get a chance to revisit Grand Rapids, I’m sure there’s still a lot more to see but we really enjoyed the Frederik Meijer Gardens.
Isn’t it fabulous, Sue? It’s my favorite place in GR. Hope you come back!
Great choices.
Thank you, Lynne! And thanks for stopping by.
Thank YOU, Sue 🙂
Enjoyed these sculptures which certainly make a statement – am looking at sculptures with my Art Group this term
Thank you, Diana! Whenever I’m out with the camera I always seem to find a sculpture to shoot. I never realized there were so many!
