Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week asked us for pictures of graffiti and murals and you may be asking yourself what the first picture has to do with either. Well this one comes under the heading of graffiti. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan of Banksy and there’s nothing wrong with brightening up a dilapidated building or train car with a bit of artwork but when it comes to despoiling nature’s beauty, then I get as mad as hell!!!! Can you tell? We came across this magnificent scene on the way to Arches National Park in Utah and were horrified to see that some irresponsible individual had scrawled all over the left face of the rock in black paint. You can’t see it in this picture nor will you in the future. I refuse to give that person any kind of encouragement by showing photos of such desecration here on this blog. End of rant.
Now from the profane to the sacred; An inspiring mural acts as a backdrop to Bertel Thorvaldsen’s Christus statue in the North Visitor’s Center in Temple Square, Salt Lake City.
An intriguing mural made of corn on an exterior wall of The Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.
A mural painted on the side of a building in downtown Chicago is no longer visible since another building was placed right next to it. I was glad I captured this image when I did.

I agree with you: let’s not show the defacing of nature’s work.
Thank you for your comment and for stopping by. I love all the photos from your travels.
A well judged rant.
Thanks, Tom! I don’t very often go off on anything here, but I felt like I just had to say something.
Hi Sue, that is such beautiful rock. I tend to agree with you….leave nature alone. Great photos. To bad the whales can’t be seen anymore.
Thanks, Cee!
Don’t blame you for ranting. Some people have no respect for anything. But your photos are beautiful! It’s been a LOT of years since I visited the Christus in SLC. I love that old Chicago building. I know you can’t “fight” progress but sometimes it does away with something more valuable.
Thanks, Linda! This was our first visit to Salt Lake City and we loved it!
Rant approved!! You for president!! 😉
Thank you! It was just one of those things that needed to be said.
I love a good rant!! It’s the prerogative of the mature’s wisdom!! 🙄
