The Weekly Photo Challenge at The Daily Post, set for us this week by Ben Huberman, asks us to define our idea of graceful. Some of the most graceful movements I have ever seen have been performed by Japanese dancers. The images below were taken some years ago at a local Japanese Festival. I didn’t have an automatic focus on my camera then, and was working in very low light without benefit of flash and although I was quite happy with the results at the time, I keep hoping for another opportunity to photograph these wonderful dancers with more up-to-date equipment just to see if I can improve on the outcome. The second to the last image is especially evocative of ‘graceful’…from the gentle hand on the fan to the mid-step lift of her foot!
Thanks for stopping by, Liz! I wish I was even half as graceful as these ladies.
