This week, Patti has chosen Street Art as the subject for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge so I decided to revisit my trip to downtown Chicago for the Air & Water Show last summer. There is always so much to see in the city and you can bet you will come across some street art in one form or another. Thirty-three of these brightly-painted police dogs, placed mostly along the Magnificent Mile, helped to raise money for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
Never seen anything like it. How very creative, and great art and all for the good!
Yes, it certainly was for a good cause and everyone got to enjoy the artwork.
😊
Oh my gosh, these are fantastic! My favorite of course is the last 😊
And if I remember rightly, he was strategically place by a hot dog vendor. Thanks for stopping by, Tina!
These are cool! I’ll have to get downtown sometime soon to see them!
Not sure if they’re still there. I know they auction them off at some point. But you can bet there will be something new that’s just as interesting to replace them.
Wow, great art for this purpose!
Thanks for stopping by, Amy!
I was so surprised to see these.. amazing!
You never know what you’re likely to see in downtown Chicago!
That sort of thing could haunt you for life.
They do have rather a hypnotic gaze.
If I remember, Chicago was the city to start the painted animals trend back in the late 90s early 200s with the painted cows that were all over town. I can’t remember what year I saw them, maybe 1999 or 2001. They were fabulous.
Yes, the cows were a huge success.
I always enjoy the changing collection of art along the Magnificent Mile. It’s always a favorite spot when we are in Chicago. A great choice for the challenge, Sue.
Thanks, Patti! I’m looking forward to seeing what’s on show downtown this summer.
I love their bus stops too. The Absolut Vodka designs for the bus stops were wonderful several years ago.
Very creative art there…awesome!!
Yes, it will be interesting to see what’s next downtown.
Great collection.
Thanks, John!

Oh wow, I like all of them!!
Thanks, Miriam!
You’re welcome, Sue!
These are great works of art – I hope it was a big success – did you see all 33?
Oh and we ha e some painted art dogs – not police dogs – around this artsy neighborhood in our town
I didn’t get to see them all as I was busy taking pictures of the air & water show for most of the day. I think these things usually manage to raise quite a bit for various causes and the idea seems to have become quite popular in a lot of places now..
thanks
