Time for Norm’s Thursday Doors and this week I’m featuring the doors at Volkening Farm in the Spring Valley Nature Center, Schaumburg. For more on Norm’s Thursday Doors go to https://miscellaneousmusingsofamiddleagedmind.wordpress.com/2016/11/10/thursday-doors-november-10-2016/
“Little pig, little pig, let me come in.”
“Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!”
“Okay, fair enough.”
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge on Cee’s Photography at http://ceenphotography.com/2013/10/22/cees-fun-foto-challenge-wheels/ is Wheels.
Wow! Once I got started on this one I couldn’t stop. I didn’t realize that I’d taken so many pictures of wheels! The first shot was taken at a farm in Old World Wisconsin.
Some fancy wheels on a car at the Volo Auto Museum.
White wheels on a carriage waiting to be hired in downtown Indianapolis.
Just across the road from the horse and carriage at Monument Circle in the center of Indianapolis were some more modern wheels parked outside a café.
An old, wooden wheel at Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg.
Also at Spring Valley, a wagon with bright, red wheels in a barn at the Volkening Heritage Farm.
Ailsa’s Travel Theme challenge this week on Where’s My Backpack? at http://wheresmybackpack.com/2013/10/18/travel-theme-brown/ is Brown.
The first two pictures were, for me, an obvious choice for this challenge. Brown County State Park in Indiana lives up to its name when the autumn leaves start to change color.
Pictured below, the grass starts to turn brown at Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota as autumn approaches.
“How now brown cow?” An interpreter greets one of the residents at Volkening Heritage Farm in Schaumburg, Illinois.
One of the many wonders of nature, an interesting brown fungus growing among the fallen trees in the Morton Arboretum.
And I couldn’t resist adding this picture of Hunter, our daughter’s brown Chocolate Lab, getting into mischief as usual.
Sue’s latest Word A Week Challenge on A Word In Your Ear at http://suellewellyn2011.wordpress.com/2013/10/08/a-word-a-week-challenge-silhouette/ is Silhouette. Usually I consider I’ve made a mistake when I get results like this as I’m normally not aiming for the silhouette effect, so this is a perfect opportunity to give these shots an airing.
The picture above was taken in the farmhouse at the Volkening Heritage Farm, part of Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg.
A sunset shot of Chicago, taken from a tour boat on Lake Michigan.
This was one of those times when I was hoping to take a picture of the wagon but ended up with a clearer shot of the barn in the background. Taken at a farm in Old World Wisconsin.
Once again, I hadn’t thought of capturing these trees, at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, necessarily as silhouettes but I think it serves this purpose quite adequately.
A night shot taken in downtown Chicago at the Crown Fountains in Millennium Park.
