A funny thing happened on the way to the supermarket. I’ve heard of ‘putting the cart before the horse’ but this was too good to pass up!

Here, in response to the Weekly Photo Challenge from the folks at The Daily Post at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/summer-lovin/, are just some of the things that I love about summer. First and foremost, eating ice cream!
Visiting the farmers market. Most towns in the area hold a farmers market during the summer months. The fruit looks very tempting but I nearly always end up buying something from the bakery stall. Mum and I never went anywhere without buying some kind of cake or cookie.
Visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden Kite Festival which this year is being held on August 9th & 10th.
Spending the day at Arlington Park racetrack. A great place to visit, even if you don’t enjoy having a little flutter. I’m not much good at picking out the winners but I love to watch the horses and the people at the track.
Sunflowers! Even the name sounds happy and full of the joys of summer
