Once again, Cee has given us plenty of options for her Fun Foto Challenge this week and I’ve chosen Men and their Music as my topic. The first two images were captured at the farmer’s market at Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This nice young man, David Chiriboga, very kindly allowed me to take pictures as he warmed up for a concert at the Orchid Festival at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
And, as promised, I’ve brought three talented artists back for an encore from my trip downtown this past weekend.

Here are my final entries for Becky’s June Squares; the roofs at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC and the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Coincidentally we are currently looking at bids on a new roof for our house but I don’t think it will end up looking anything like these. For more on Becky’s June Squares go to An official residence
The more I age, the more I tend to avoid looking in mirrors, so you won’t see too many reflections of me in my photo files, except perhaps this one, taken at the Natural History Museum in Salt Lake City. I got two for the price of one with this picture as I was shooting the outside of the museum and ended up capturing a nice reflection of the mountains.
The image above was also captured in Salt Lake City, in Temple Square. Just right for Jen’s choice of topic for the Weekly Photo Challenge on The Daily Post which this week is Mirror.
Still in the Salt Lake City area, the weather wasn’t quite so bright when we were forced to bring our visit to Antelope Island to an abrupt end as a storm moved into the area. Despite this, however, the lake managed to reflect the ominous mood of the clouds as they gathered overhead.
I couldn’t let this challenge go by without posting at least one picture of an actual mirror reflecting the ornate plasterwork in a room at the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

This week’s challenge was most timely for me since I had several recently captured images that I thought would be right for the purpose. These pictures were taken at the State Capitol building in Salt Lake City, Utah.
One thing I miss since I switched to a digital camera is my old Minolta wide angle lens. I can’t afford to spring for a fancy new one for my current camera so now I find that I am forced to take pictures from a slightly different angle instead of perhaps capturing the whole image as I would like.
In a way, that’s a good thing because now I find myself taking a closer look at the subject and spending more time exploring my options.
