Frizztext’s A-Z Challenge this week on Flickr Comments at http://flickrcomments.wordpress.com/2014/03/11/tagged-j-2/ is The Letter J.
Here are a few of the people I associate with the letter J.
Of all the jockeys we have cheered around the track at Arlington Park over the years, Pat Day has to be our #1 favorite. Hardly surprising given the fact that in 1989 he set a North American record by winning on eight of nine mounts in a single day at Arlington.
Jack Brickhouse, well-known broadcaster, whose voice became familiar as the play-by-play announcer for the Cubs baseball games on WGN, is memorialized by this statue on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
One of my all-time favorite jugglers, not to mention jesters, is Brian Howard also known as Broon. He was, and probably still is, a regular performer at The Bristol Renaissance Faire. For his finale he used to juggle a bowling ball, a flaming torch and an apple (he would eat the apple while juggling all three!)
I loved watching the graceful movements of this Japanese dancer. She truly was a joy to behold.
Nice selection of J’s. 🙂
Thank you!
I like the idea, to give a journalist a statue!
Yes, there are a couple of them in Chicago. The other one is of Irv Kupcinet who was a columnist for the Chicago Sun Times.
