This week, Patti has chosen Silhouettes as the subject for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. I should probably state at the outset that I don’t think I’ve ever taken a picture of something or someone specifically as a silhouette. They’ve just turned out that way, either due to my woeful inability to manually set the camera to cope with the stark contrasts of light and shade or the failure of my camera’s auto mode to do the same. The following ‘silhouettes’ were captured, however inadvertently, at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Volkening Heritage Farm at Spring Valley, Old World Wisconsin and the Stephenson County Historical Museum in Freeport, Illinois.
That second photo exudes a sense of comfort and serenity. A lovely series of beautiful photos.
Thanks you so much! I really appreciate your kind comment.
Your accidental silhouettes are all beautiful, Sue. Mind were also never intended. Just happened in the moment. 🙂
“Mine” oops. 🙂
Thanks, Olga! That’s why I rarely delete pictures from the photo files. You never know when they might be useful.
So true. I find that recently since I can’t get out too often to take fresh photos, looking at an old image in a new way with a bit of editing, can be eye-opening. 🙂
Beautiful series – love the second one. Could have been at my grandmother’s. Superb bird cage.
Thank you, Ann-Christine! The ‘jug and bowl by the window’ have appeared quite often at the various historical houses that we’ve visited. It does make a nice shot even if the lighting doesn’t turn out quite as anticipated.
LOL I suspect many of this week’s silhouettes were accidents, but you’re the only one admitting it! I know some of mine were 😊. Love the birdcage especially
Thanks, Tina!
Hi, Sue. I love this set of images! Beautiful work. I believe a lot of us take silhouettes by accident, BTW! The shot of the pitcher “speaks” to me as well as the tree lights. Great work!
Thanks, Patti! This was quite a challenge!
A beautiful silhouette series! The shot of the pitcher is cool!
Thanks, Amy! One of those accidental silhouettes but I think I almost prefer it to one where I actually got the lighting right.
Excellent.
Many thanks, John!
